PMC – Project Management Championship
What is PMC?
The International Project Management Championship is a global competition dedicated to students to take on each other’s skills in project management in both a professional and fun way. Through the PMC, IPMA Young Crew develops young project professionals and actively promotes project management to business and organizations at the global level.
Competition consists of three stages:
Who is it for?
PMC is for students under 35-years that aim to complete:
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree at a University
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree at a University of Applied Sciences
You do not have to have wide expertise in project management to participate. The knowledge of the basics are enough. The knowledge level required for the qualification test is equal to the IPMA level D certification.
How to participate?
University/UAS signs up to Young Crew.
Entry fee is 800€ (+VAT 24%) and it grants entry for an unlimited amount of teams for the qualification and a free ticket to PM Days (=Projektipäivät) for the teacher.
For the Universites/UAS which are members of the Project Professionals Association (Projektiammattilaiset ry) the participation is free of charge. The entry for an unlimited amount of teams for the PMC-competition is included in the membership.

Timeline of the competition
The schedule of the PMC 2024. The PMC will return in 2025 and the timeline for it will look similar.
- January – Qualification round opens
- Teams first need to register and after registration perform the qualification test. Remember: qualification can only be done once!
- March 30th – Qualification round closes
- April 12th – National finals part 1 out of 2: virtual meeting of final teams and jury Finnish Project Management Competition (approx. 2 hours)
- May 8th – National finals part 2 out of 2: live on-site finals at Espoo, Innopoli 1 (whole day competition event with voluntary afterparty)
- June 8th – International Final in Spain: Participants from Finland are the winning team of Finnish national finals and Young Crew Representative from YC Finland (trip might take more than two days: travel expenses paid)
